The UVA defense could have used the help of Kam Robinson, the four-star linebacker who missed the 27-13 loss to Maryland last week with a knee sprain.

Tony Elliott told reporters at his weekly presser on Tuesday that Robinson “could be back this week,” which is, yeah, a hedge.

Robinson has been on the field for 57 snaps this season, and has a Pro Football Focus grade of 65.1.

As a true freshman in 2023, Robinson was in on 474 snaps, had 72 tackles, 10 QB pressures, two sacks and two INTs, and a PFF grade of 71.4, third-best on the defensive unit.

More injury updates

Right guard Ty Furnish (undisclosed) left in the second quarter of the Maryland game after 32 snaps.

“Ty will be down,” Elliott said, adding: “actually, it was a little more serious than what I was initially thinking.”

The UVA season stats list offensive lineman Charlie Patterson as having gotten into two games this season (Richmond, Wake), but I can’t find any stats for him on O line or on special teams.

Either way, Patterson will be out for a “couple weeks” with an ankle sprain, Elliott said.

Cornerback Dre Walker (44 snaps, 46.1 PFF grade in 2024) is probable for the Coastal Carolina game on Saturday after going down last week with an ankle injury.

Wideout Suderian Harrison (one 13-yard catch on 13 snaps this season) is “probably down another week with his hamstring, but he’s progressing well,” Elliott said.

Final update: the projected starter at left tackle, McKale Boley (847 snaps, 62.7 PFF grade in 2023), is “closer,” Elliott said.

“I don’t know if it’ll be this weekend, but he’s almost back,” Elliott said.
