UVA fall Olympic sports to make at least 11 broadcast appearances

uva-logo-new2The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday the Olympic sports broadcast coverage for the upcoming fall season. Virginia teams will make 11 regular-season broadcast appearances, with the opportunity of additional coverage during ACC tournaments. The league announced that 121 Olympic Sports events will be broadcast, marking a record high.

The UVA men’s soccer team will be featured in six broadcasts, including a Sept. 21 match with reigning national champion Notre Dame that will be broadcast by ESPNU at noon. UVa’s matches at Clemson (Oct. 17) and at home against Wake Forest (Oct. 24) each will air on the ACC’s regional sports networks (Comcast Mid-Atlantic in Virginia) and ESPN3; the Clemson game will air at 6 p.m., while the Wake Forest contest has been moved to a 6:30 p.m. start. The Cavaliers’ games at Pitt (Oct. 4) and North Carolina (Nov. 1) also will be broadcast by ESPN3 at 7 p.m. UVa’s contest at George Mason (Oct. 7) will be carried on NSCAATV.com at 7 p.m. The ACC tournament semifinals (Nov. 14) will air on ESPN3, while the title game (Nov. 16) will be broadcast by ESPNU.

The Virginia women’s soccer team will appear three times this fall on broadcasts through the ACC’s media partners. Virginia’s game at Florida State on Sept. 28 will be broadcast on ESPNU at 4 p.m. Boston College’s visit to Klöckner Stadium on Oct. 9 will be broadcast by the conference’s regional sports networks at 7 p.m. The Cavaliers’ visit to Duke on Oct. 23 will be broadcast online on ESPN3. The semifinals of the ACC Tournament in Greensboro will be on ESPN3 on Nov. 7 and the championship game on Nov. 9 will air on ESPNU.

The Cavaliers’ volleyball matches at Virginia Tech on Oct. 11 at 1 p.m., and at ACC newcomer Louisville on Nov. 2, will be broadcast on ESPN3.

The Virginia field hockey team and cross country teams will have broadcast opportunities at the ACC Tournament. All three rounds of the field hockey tournament will be broadcast online on ESPN3, while the ACC men’s and women’s cross country championships also will air on ESPN3 on Oct. 31.

The ACC’s regional sports networks include fox Sports Carolinas, fox Sports South, fox Sports Florida, fox Sports Indiana, Sun Sports, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, NESN, YES, ROOT SPORTS and MSG. The RSN broadcasts also will be carried by ESPN3.

Virginia also will announce its Cavaliers Live fall sports streaming schedule on VirginiaSports.com in the near future.
