UVA Athletics, buoyed by football success, ranks #3 nationally in fall Directors’ Cup standings

The success for UVA Football has the UVA Athletics program sitting in third place nationally in the 2025-2026 Learfield Directors’ Cup DI final fall standings, which were released on Thursday.

Football is always the millstone in the final annual standing for Virginia.

The top spot is very much at play.

The top three schools are from the ACC – #1 North Carolina, #2 Stanford and #3 Virginia – and four of the Top 5 (#5 Notre Dame) and six of the Top 10 (#8 Wake Forest, #9 Duke, #10 NC State) are from the ACC.

Looking at our state schools:

  • Liberty: 96
  • Virginia Tech: 111
  • James Madison: 115
  • Old Dominion: 140
