Update | Richmond Police make arrest in Hunt Avenue shooting death

Richmond Police have made an arrest in the homicide that occurred on Sunday on Hunt Avenue.

Michael Sprague, 57, of Richmond, has been charged with shooting within an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the shooting death of Johnnita Russell 34, of Richmond.

Additonal charges are pending, according to police.

According to the Richmond PD, officers were called to the 500 block of Hunt Avenue for the report of a person shot at 9:33 p.m. Sunday.

Russell was located inside a residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information about this homicide investigation is asked to call Major Crimes Detective B. Neifeld at (804) 646-3246 or call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
