Virginia State Police have identified the victim in the fatal crash yesterday afternoon on Interstate 95 in Fairfax County.

Kenneth D. Buckner, 35, of Washington, D.C., was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene, near the 163 mile marker.

A passenger in Buckner’s vehicle, Tyra Williams, 29, was partially ejected during the crash and suffered serious injuries. She was transported to an area hospital.

According to police, two vehicles, including a BMW driven by Buckner, were travelling the interstate at a high rate of speed, when Buckner changed lanes and struck a Mercedes at approximately 1 p.m.

The Mercedes was not one of the two vehicles speeding at the time of the crash.

The Mercedes then struck the guardrail, and the BMW struck a jersey wall. Buckner was ejected from his vehicle and was then struck by the Mercedes.

The other vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed with Buckner was not involved in the crash. It is described as a dark-colored Infinity sedan, according to police.

There were no additional injuries reported in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
