Donald Trump said in an interview with The New York Post on Sunday that “we hear” that President Biden was going to order the Department of Justice to drop its two ongoing prosecutions of him related to Jan. 6 and his theft of classified documents.
What he undoubtedly had actually heard was that the sycophant MAGA lawyer that he’d appointed to a federal-court judgeship in Florida was going to issue a bizarre ruling dismissing the classified-docs case.
That would already be what a friend who texted me as the breaking news hit this morning called “overplaying your hand,” before Trump, who has been pretending to be Mr. Unity the past couple of days, issued this statement on his Truth Social money-drain:
This, you can call saying the quiet part out loud.
And if you don’t think this all feels coordinated, the way this rubbish ruling came down as early as possible on the first weekday morning after the Saturday shooting, and hours before the start of the fake unity Republican National Convention, you need to have your political common sense mrit badge revoked.
Seriously, all they had to do was continue the charade of Trump having undergone some sort of spiritual reckoning after the attempt on his life, keeping Democrats at bay, because who’s going to say anything critical publicly of a guy who barely survived an assassination attempt, and coast to victory in November.
It seems that TrumpWorld is guilty of already measuring the drapes in the Oval Office.
