Virginia football coach Tony Elliott is The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week, the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl announced on Monday.

The honor comes for Elliott after UVA’s stunning 31-27 upset of then-#10 North Carolina on Saturday night.

Virginia had been a 24-point underdog and had won just one game in the 2023 season coming into the game in Chapel Hill.

The win was the Virginia program’s first-ever victory over a Top 10 opponent on the road and its first win over a Top 10 team since 2005 against Florida State.

“Coach Elliott and the Cavaliers had a historic road win on Saturday that will be remembered in Charlottesville for years to come,” said Jim Terry, chairman of the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation. “Coach Dodd would have praised Virginia’s grit and determination to overcome a double-digit deficit in the second half and pull out one of the biggest wins in program history.”
