Tim Kaine to hold Facebook Q&A on ISIL

Contributors

kaine new2U.S. Senator Tim Kaine will hold a Facebook Q&A to discuss the importance of passing a new Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) against ISIL.

He will answer questions submitted from Facebook users on his official page, which can be accessed here. For nearly a year, Kaine has argued that Congress’s refusal to have a meaningful debate and vote on the U.S. mission against ISIL does a disservice to our troops who are currently serving overseas in the allied effort against the terrorist group.

Last week, Kaine and Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) introduced the first bipartisan AUMF and received a commitment from Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker to hold a committee meeting dedicated to trying to find a path forward on an AUMF against ISIL. Kaine and Flake also introduced this AUMF as legislation on June 16 (S.1587).
