Tigers top O’s, climb into wild-card tie

Victor Martinez homered to break an eighth-inning tie, lifting Detroit to a 4-3 win over Baltimore on Friday.

The win lifts the Tigers (76-64) into a tie with the Orioles (76-64) for the second AL wild-card spot.

The O’s had tied the game in the top of the eighth on an RBI single by Adam Jones (.278/.318/.459, 26 HR, 78 RBI), who was 2-for-3 at the plate on the night.

Martinez went deep on Orioles reliever Brad Brach (8-3, 1.81 ERA, 0.99 WHIP).
