Three UVA Football 2016 commits to enroll in January

UVaHelmet_1UVA football head coach Mike London announced that three members of the 2016 recruiting class have signed grant-in-aid paperwork, and will enroll early at Virginia in January and will take part in spring practice.

The three signees are TE Christian Baumgardner (Ocean City, N.J.), RB Tre Harbison (Shelby, N.C.) and LB Matt Terrell (Lynchburg, Va.).

Plays tight end and defensive end at Ocean City High School for head coach Kevin Smith … a three-star recruit by ESPN … a two-star recruit by Rivals.com and Scout.com … made 18 catches for 140 yards and one touchdown as a junior in 2014 during a season cut short due to injury … also made 11 tackles, including three for a loss and forced a fumble.

Shelby, N.C. • Crest Senior High School
Plays running back at Crest High School for head coach Will Clark … a three-star recruit by ESPN, Rivals.com, Scout.com and 247Sports.com … as a junior rushed for 1,843 yards and 36 touchdowns while helping Crest to a 16-0 record and the 2014 North Carolina 3A state championship … rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns in the state championship win over Havelock High School … also caught 12 passes for 199 yards and two more scores … named the 2014 South Mountain Athletics Conference’s offensive player of the year … all-state and all-conference honoree.

Plays defensive end and tight end at Liberty Christian Academy for head coach Frank Rocco … a three-star recruit by ESPN … a two-star recruit by Rivals.com, Scout.com and 247Sports.com … second-team All-VISAA in 2014 after posting 59 tackles, seven sacks and 17 tackles for loss … all-area defensive team … moved to Lynchburg, Va., from Kitty Hawk, N.C., in time for his sophomore season … started playing football as a sophomore after previously competing athletically as a swimmer.
