environmentWhen you’re running a manufacturing or industrial based business, you have a lot of responsibilities and legalities you need to follow. One thing which is becoming increasingly important is air pollution control.

There’s been a lot of coverage in the media recently regarding the effects air pollution is having in the UK. Here, you’ll discover the implications of air pollution and why it’s so important to control it.

What is air pollution?

Air pollution consists of gas, particles and carbon monoxide. While transportation largely makes up most of the air pollution faced in today’s environment, it can also come from industrial businesses.

The pollutants travel through the air, potentially harming the environment and people. They can have severe consequences on the health and have the capability to travel for miles. It isn’t just limited to outside either.  A recent study of schools in London, discovered air pollution was actually worse in classrooms than it is outside.

What effects is it having on the environment?

The effect air pollution is having on the environment is substantial. The gases can irritate the airways, causing potential issues for those suffering from lung disease. Particles can also be carried deeper within the lungs, leading to inflammation and potentially causing lung and heart disease to worsen. Other health effects caused by air pollution include nausea, headaches, eye irritation, upper respiratory infections and allergic reactions.

It can also have a devastating impact on the environment. Vegetation can become damaged, algae could start to form in lakes and other water sources and it can also harm or even kill animals in high quantities.

How can you control it?

So, how can your business control the amount of air pollution it’s distributing into the environment?

The best thing you can do is invest in a high-quality air pollution control system. If you’re unsure what type of pollution or what volume of air pollution your business is generating, it could be a good idea to have an assessment carried out. That way, you’ll know exactly which type of system is best suited to your business.

Overall, air pollution control is extremely important and it’s actually a legal requirement for businesses to meet certain guidelines regarding pollution levels. So, if your business generates air pollution, you’re going to need to invest in an adequate air pollution control system.
