Fought in Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley, the May 15, 1864, Battle of New Market won lasting fame for 257 Virginia Military Institute cadets, who helped a pick-up group of Confederates turn back a Union offensive.

New Market Battlefield State Historical Park director Scott Harris narrates this nine-stop walking tour.

“Scott brings an intimate knowledge of the battlefield and a gift for storytelling to this tour,” says Don Pierce, CivilWarTraveler.com editor. “He brings this dramatic story to life.”

The New Market podcast arrives in time for those enjoying the annual reenactment on the historic battlefield scheduled for May 15-17 this year.

Visitors to the website may listen to the tour on their computers and/or download it onto an iPod or other mp3 device for use while touring the site. A map (8.5×11 inches) of the New Market Battlefield State Historic Site is available to download and print.

The New Market podcast joins 16 other audio tours featuring the Gettysburg, Antietam, Petersburg, Bentonville and Richmond battlefields.

Listen to or download all the tours at www.CivilWarTraveler.com/audio or subscribe at iTunes (search “Civil War Tours”). Visit New Market on the web.
