Structure fire on Laurel Park Lane in Albemarle County: One person sent to hospital

Update: Thursday, 12:03 p.m. The home occupant was able to evacuate the building, however, required treatment by first responders for serious injuries. The occupant was transported to UVA Hospital. The current condition is not known at this time.

The Albemarle County Office of the Fire Marshal has deemed the cause of the fire to be an accidental fire involving an appliance.

 

Original post: Thursday, 8:54 a.m. Albemarle County Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on the 1300 block of Laurel Park Lane at 3:42 a.m. Thursday.

First responding units reported thick, heavy smoke and declared a working fire at 3:52 am.

One person was transported to UVA Hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Albemarle County Office of the Fire Marshal.
