JMU won for the sixth time in its last seven games and the Dukes won at home for the fifth time in their last six outings.  In all six of those wins JMU held its opponent to 52 or fewer points.

William and Mary dropped its 10th game in a row.

JMU senior guard Tarik Hislop (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) tied for game scoring honors with 21 points and was one of three Dukes to score in double figures.  Freshman guard Precious Hall (Tallahassee, Fla./Maclay) added 14 points, all coming in the first half when she hit 4-of-6 3-point tries and was 2-for-2 at the foul line.  The third Duke in double figures was junior guard Kirby Burkholder (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) with 12.

JMU’s top rebounder was sophomore forward Toia Giggetts (Norfolk, Va./Lake Taylor), who tied for the game’s leading rebounder with a season-high 11.  Burkholder finished with nine rebounds.

W&M was led senior forward Emily Correal (Venetia, Pa./Peter’s Township), who tied for game scoring and rebounding honors with 21 points and 11 rebounds.  She was the only W&M player to score in double figures.

The Dukes hit their first five shots, four of them 3-pointers, to jump out to a 13-6 lead with just 2:52 gone in the opening half.  JMU led by as many as 13 twice in the first period, the last time at 25-12 with 10:40 left.

W&M got no closer than seven (the last time at 34-27 with 3:47 left) in the first half and trailed 41-31 at halftime.  JMU’s lead slipped to eight at 43-35 with 18:55 to play, but from 18:40 on the Dukes held a double-digit advantage.
