Annette T Spencer, 50, of Staunton, was arrested on two felony counts of embezzlement on Thursday.
An investigation was launched after Spencer’s employer, Commonwealth Excavating, filed a complaint of missing money.
The investigation into how much money was actually taken is ongoing.
Spencer was released on bond and the matter is pending court proceedings.
