Staunton marks Kids Matter Day

staunton2editsThe Staunton Parks and Recreation Department will collaborate with numerous area agencies and organizations to host Kids Matter Day on Saturday, May 4th at the Gym in Gypsy Hill Park.

The event begins at 10am and operates until 1pm with attractions staying open until 2pm. The Kids Matter Day Mission: To promote public awareness of child health and safety issues through a community celebration called Kids Matter Day in early spring. Activities focus on child safety awareness, child abuse and neglect prevention, healthy children, strong families and play – the work of childhood.

Kids Matter Day is a FREE FAMILY EVENT designed to inform parents and guardians about ways to keep kids safe from abuse and other dangers while their children enjoy age-appropriate activities. There will be an opportunity to visit health/safety stations to obtain valuable information. After attending the designated number of stations in the gym and parking lot area your child can participate in the Kids Matter Day Celebration Attractions as a reward.
