State Police: Truck crashes into horse-drawn buggy on Virginia roadway; one person dead

A girl was killed in Virginia Sunday after a pickup truck struck a horse-drawn buggy with seven total passengers.

According to Virginia State Police, one juvenile female died at the scene in Cumberland County. A second passenger, also a juvenile female, remains in critical condition.

The five other individuals on board the buggy suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Injured passengers were transported to VCU Medical Center.

The accident occurred at 6:57 p.m. on July 14.

A Ford F250 pickup truck was driving southbound on the 2700 block of Cumberland Road when it struck the buggy in the rear of the vehicle, according to VSP.

The driver of the Ford F250 was not injured in the crash.

Charges are pending.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
