One person is dead following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 northbound this afternoon in Fairfax County, according to Virginia State Police.

Speed is considered a factor in the wreck which occurred at the 163 mile marker on I-95.

The name of the deceased person has not been released.

According to State Police, a BMW convertible changed lanes and struck a third vehicle.

The BMW then went off of the right side of the interstate and struck the guardrail and the jersey wall.

The driver of the vehicle, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, and then run over by the car the BMW had made contact with.

The driver died at the scene.

A passenger in the vehicle, who was also not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected and taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
