A 21-year-old Virginia man has been arrested for driving under the influence in an accident that killed a 16-year-old girl and left another teen with life-threatening injuries.

Dillion M. Coe, 21, of Bluemont, was traveling southbound in a northbound lane on River Road in Clarke County Saturday night at 7:54 p.m.

His Toyota suddenly swerved right, ran off the road and collided with a tree before catching on fire, according to Virginia State Police.

Three passengers were in the vehicle with Coe.

A 16-year-old female died at the scene. Another 16-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries. A third passenger, a 26-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.

The two passengers and Coe were transported to Winchester Medical Center for treatment.

Due to the fire damage, it’s undetermined if anyone was wearing a seatbelt.

Coe was later taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence; involuntary manslaughter, driving under the influence; maiming, and driving under the influence.

He was transported to the Northwestern Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.

The crash remains under investigation.
