South Carolina man arrested in July 20 shooting death of Roanoke teen

An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of a Roanoke teen in Myrtle Beach on July 20.

Gary Abraham, 18, of Aiken, S.C., has been charged with one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime.

The shooter’s father, Gary Jaquise Abraham, was also arrested, according to WDBJ7, after authorities allegedly found a stolen AR-style rifle, cocaine and marijuana inside his home.

He is charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, trafficking in cocaine and possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.

Jakolbi Taylor, 16, a Patrick Henry High School student, died at a beach access area from a gunshot wound. The fatal shooting took place at approximately 1 a.m., according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department.

Taylor’s funeral was held on Saturday at Patrick Henry High School.

Aiken, S.C., is an approximately three and a half hour drive to Myrtle Beach.
