Shenandoah County: Route 11 crash takes the life of Mount Jackson man

Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on Route 11 in Shenandoah County that claimed the life of a Mount Jackson man.

The crash occurred Wednesday at 9:02 a.m. on Route 11, a tenth of mile north of Moreland Gap Road.

According to VSP, a 2008 Buick Lucerne was traveling south on Route 11 at a high rate of speed when it ran off the right side of the roadway and collided with a tree.

The driver of the Buick, Robert B. Colter, 60, of Mount Jackson, died at the scene of the crash.

He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
