Shenandoah County: Interstate 81 lanes open again after tractor trailer crash

Updated, 1:09 p.m. As of 12:55 p.m., all southbound lanes of Interstate 81 in the area from mile marker 291 to 296 in Shenandoah County in are open, according to Virginia State Police.


Original story, posted 10:39 a.m. Interstate 81 is shut down in both directions from mile marker 291 to 296 in Shenandoah County.

Virginia State Police responded to an accident at 4:17 a.m. involving a tractor trailer hauling cattle.

The tractor trailer was traveling north on I-81 when it ran off the left side of the road, collided with a guardrail and overturned.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is on the scene assisting with the roadway closure and detours.
