Sears Hill Bridge in Staunton reopens

Contributors

staunton3After a successful fundraising campaign for private donations led by the Friends of the Sears Hill Bridge committee, the Sears Hill Bridge is now open.

The bridge fell into disrepair, was determined to be unsafe, and was condemned in January 2010.   Since that time, thanks to overwhelming community support from Staunton and beyond, the steel, Pratt through truss bridge has been completely restored.

The official grand opening celebration will be Saturday, April 13, with a ribbon cutting at 12 noon. Numerous activities are planned in historic downtown Staunton that day, including children’s activities and fun for the whole family.
