bridgewater collegeBill Campbell, author of Sunshine Patriots and The Outback Vision Protocol, will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Bridgewater College. A screening of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther will follow Campbell’s presentation, beginning at 8 p.m. Both events are in Cole Hall and open to the public at no charge.

Campbell will speak on “The Black Fantastic: The Politics of Image and Representation.”

Released in February 2018, Black Panther received praise from critics for its direction, screenplay, acting, production and costume design and soundtrack.

In 2013, Campbell, a science-fiction writer, founded Rosarium Publishing with the goal of bringing diversity to publishing. By publishing high-quality books and comics, the company strives to reflect the multicultural world we live in today.

Campbell describes Rosarium as “a fledgling publisher specializing in speculative fiction, comics, and a touch of crime fiction—all with a multicultural flair.”

He lives in Washington, D.C., where he also helps produce audio books for the blind.

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to more than 1,900 undergraduate students.
