SCC sets hearing to consider high-voltage line between Fauquier, Albemarle

power-line-header1The State Corporation Commission will hold a local public hearing in April regarding an application by Dominion Virginia Power to build a new 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line between the company’s Remington substation in Fauquier County and the Gordonsville substation in Albemarle County.

In its application, the company proposes to construct approximately 38.2 miles of overhead 230-kV double circuit transmission line on existing right-of-way in Fauquier, Culpeper, Orange, and Albemarle counties. The proposed in-service date for the project is June 2019.

The local public hearing will be held on, Thursday, April 28, 2016. One session begins at 4:30 p.m. and another at 7 p.m. at the Orange County High School, 201 Selma Road in Orange. The hearing will continue in Richmond on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at 10 a.m. in the Commission’s second floor courtroom located in the Tyler Building at 1300 East Main Street in downtown Richmond.

Any person wishing to comment at these hearings should arrive early and sign in with the SCC bailiff.

Written comments on the proposal must be submitted by June 21, 2016. All correspondence should be sent to the Clerk of the State Corporation Commission, Document Control Center, P.O. Box 2118, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2118, and refer to case number PUE-2015-00117.
