SAW Centers to Distribute Prescription Cards

Chris Graham

The Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce has offered discount prescription cards to people in the Staunton, Waynesboro, Augusta area for several years.

augusta-chamber-headerWhile these cards are not insurance cards, but discount cards, they would be presented at the pharmacy when you drop off or pickup your prescription just like an insurance card. Individuals that don’t have prescription coverage can use them to reduce their costs for prescription drugs.

Individuals who do have prescription insurance coverage, can also use them as sometimes the prices offered by the Chamber discount card is better than the cost resulting from the person’s insurance coverage.

A Valley Program for Aging Services staff member who has been using this card for the past year, reports significant savings. The Staunton and Waynesboro Senior Centers will be distribution points for the cards to the public this year.

These cards do not expire, so if a person has one from a previous year, they do not need to get a new one.
