Route 780 in Rockingham County closing Monday for bridge work

road work transportationPart of Route 780 (Lindale Road) in the Linville area of Rockingham County is scheduled to close for about a month beginning Monday, March 19. This closure will allow the Virginia Department of Transportation to rebuild portions of the Linville Creek bridge, about 0.3 mile east of Route 42 (Harpine Highway). The work is scheduled to be complete on Friday, April 13, weather permitting.

Motorists will have access to homes and businesses along Route 780 on either side of the work zone. Through traffic will use the following detours:

  • Drivers east of the bridge will go north on Route 753 (Kratzer Road), south on Route 42 and then east on Route 780 (Shaver Mill Road/Lindale Road) to the end of the detour.
  • Drivers west of the bridge will go west on Route 780 (Lindale Road/Shaver Mill Road), north on Route 42 and then south on Route 753 to the end of the detour.
