Chris Graham

road-work-headerBeginning Monday, Aug. 11, Route 747 (Preddy Creek Road) in Albemarle County will be closed to through traffic so the Virginia Department of Transportation can replace two pipes that  carry storm water underneath the road. The road will reopen to through traffic on Friday, Aug. 15

On Monday and Tuesday the road will be closed between 3297 and 3337 Preddy Creek Road; beginning Wednesday the road will be closed between 3137 and 3297 Preddy Creek Road. That work will be completed on Friday and the road will be reopened. Access to private entrances will be maintained during the closures.

During the closure VDOT will establish a detour for through traffic that will use Route 600 (Watts Passage Road) to Route 641 (Burnley Station Road) to Route 640 (Gilbert Station Road) and back to Route 747.

Message boards have been placed near the work zone to notify motorists of the closure and detour signs will be posted.

VDOT’s 511 travel website, www.511virginia.org, is updated in real time with weather and road conditions for all highways in Virginia. Once on the road VDOT’s 511 mobile app provides real-time traffic and weather information for both iPhone and Android platforms. Travelers can also call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for real-time information on traffic and road conditions.
