Route 623 in Rockbridge County to close Aug. 5 for bridge replacements

road-work-headerThe Virginia Department of Transportation will close part of Route 623 (Fredericksburg Road) in Rockbridge County for about a month beginning Tuesday August 5, 2014. This closure is for the replacement of two bridges just east of Route 621 in the Rockbridge Baths area.

Signs will direct drivers on the following detours: Eastbound traffic will follow Route 602 (turkey Hill Road) north and Route 39 (Maury River Road) west back to Route 623. Westbound traffic will follow Route 39 east and Route 602 south back to Route 623.

Route 623 is expected to reopen about September 5, 2014. All work is weather permitting.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
