A pedestrian is dead following a fatal crash on South Valley Pike in Rockingham County on Wednesday night.
Virginia State Police is investigating the crash which occurred at approximately 9 p.m.
A Volkswagen was traveling on South Valley Pike when the driver could not avoid a pedestrian walking in the right travel lane, according to police.
The pedestrian, who was not wearing reflective clothing, died at the scene.
