A Roanoke woman is dead following an accident on Tuesday night near milepost 101 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Laura Marie Jones, 36, died as a result of injuries sustained from the accident.

At approximately 9:14 p.m., National Park Service law enforcement rangers received the report for a single-vehicle accident near Roanoke.

The preliminary investigation indicates Jones left the roadway at a high rate of speed and hit a tree which then fell onto Jones’ vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
