On May 1, RMH Hospice and RMH Home Health became part of Sentara Home Care. Their new names, respectively, are Sentara Hospice Services and Sentara Home Care Services.

Sentara Home Care Services, a part of Sentara Enterprise, is a regional home care agency, headquartered in Chesapeake, Va., with additional offices in Low Moor, Charlottesville, Williamsburg, Suffolk, Woodbridge and Elizabeth City, N.C. Sentara Home Care Services provides a wide range of home health and hospice services, as well as a number of high-tech programs.

Janice Hamilton remains director of Sentara Home Care Services in the Harrisonburg region. Janet Macarthur, director, Oncology, Hospice and Palliative Care at RMH, continues as director of Sentara Hospice Services in the Harrisonburg region.

“This integration of services combines the best practices of both organizations, resulting in a substantial increase in resources for staff and enhanced care for patients,” said Donna Hahn, vice president, Acute Care Services. “This includes technology focused on patient care, education and improved processes. Patients in our region will still receive high-quality care from the same caring and professional nurses and therapists and other care providers.”

Hahn added that the integration will provide the patient community an expanded area of care, with the overlapping service areas provided by the Sentara Home Care Offices of Allegany and Charlottesville for support.

Merv Webb, vice president, RMH Foundation, noted that any gifts to RMH for hospice services will still be used locally and will still be managed by the RMH Foundation.

“Sentara recognizes how philanthropy has helped RMH Hospice provide better care and has made a commitment to continue in this fine tradition,” he said.

Phone numbers for these services remain as follows:

· Sentara Hospice Services: 540.433.4429
· Sentara Home Care Services: 540.564.5735
