River City Radio Hour celebrates March

The River City Radio Hour’s March 20th performance will celebrate two of the month’s highlights: St. Patrick’s Day and the Anniversary of the Battle of Waynesboro.

Besides the Radio Hour regulars, the Boogie Kings and Marsha Howard, the performance will feature the Dreaded Blues Lady, Lorie Strother and the harmonica virtuoso, Kevin Chisnell.  Joining them will be David Young the singing cobbler with an Irish tale.  Also on the docket is the third chapter of Tales from Rose Hall. The Radio Hour performance is at 7:30
pm in the Fellowship Hall of the Main Street United Methodist Church.

Lorie Strother and Kevin Chisnell are returning to the Radio Hour after their crowd jumping appearance together in November.  Each will take a turn with the Boogie Kings and then join to bring the excitement that only they can muster when they join in the Blues.  Lorie Strother is known far and wide as the Dreaded Blues Lady.  Her style is a perfect match for the harmonica skills of Kevin Chisnell who makes his instrument sing in the best
blues tradition.  When they join the Boogie Kings the roof comes off.

Coming back with another of his heart-warming stories, David Young (aka Duffy) offers his Irish tale, Les…for Short.  One never knows what to expect when one captures a leprechaun. The belated nod to St. Patrick’s Day
will give the Radio Hour a bit of Irish charm and a dose of song.

In the third chapter of Tales from Rose Hall it is a cold, wet March 2, 1865.  The grand promise of a confederate victory is all but lost.  Sherman has burned his way down the Valley and sends Custer and his men to Waynesboro.  Jubal Early and his suffering soldiers took the high ground on Pine and prepared to stop the Union invaders.  But first, he fortifies himself with breakfast at Rose Hall.

Completing the evening’s entertainment will be The Boogie Kings with William Hayes on keyboard and J. T. Fauber on percussion with Richard Adams on every other instrument.  Marsha Howard will bring laughter and a bit of irony with
her latest set of jokes.  The popular sing-a-long will end the show.

Admission to the March 20th River City Radio Hour is Pay-What-You-Will at the door with open seating.  There are no advanced reservations.
