Richmond Police provide identity of victim in weekend homicide

Richmond Police have identified the victim in the homicide that occurred on Richmond Highway last Saturday.

Officers were called at 1:21 p.m. to the 3600 block of Richmond Highway for the report of a robbery that was upgraded to a shooting. On the scene, they located an adult male, Wesley Jefferson, 37, of Richmond, down on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
