The Dukes will not play on Saturday, as was planned, but will play a pair of contests on Sunday, facing Monmouth at 2:30 p.m. and wrapping up the weekend against host VCU at 6:30 p.m. Before the schedule changes, JMU was scheduled to take on VCU on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., which was pushed back to 6 p.m. before being cancelled, before facing Monmouth on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
JMU began the PK5 Classic in dramatic fashion, punctuating Friday afternoon’s 9-7, come-from-behind victory over Minnesota with a three-run, walk-off home run from redshirt sophomore Brett Johnson to move to 9-5 on the season. The Dukes have never faced Monmouth in baseball, but hold a 57-43-1 advantage over former conference foe VCU.
