Quinnipiac poll: The Week of Trump has already fizzled out

That Gallup poll that had President Trump registering three-year highs in job approval appears to have been an outlier.

The latest data set indicating this to be the case comes from Quinnipiac University, which released poll numbers Monday putting voter favorability of Trump at 42 percent, and his job approval at 43 percent.

Quinnipiac also has Trump looking up at his potential Democratic rivals, trailing former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg 51 percent to 42 percent, trailing Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders 51 percent to 42 percent, and trailing former Vice President Joe Biden 50 percent to 43 percent.

The poll has 55 percent of Americans viewing Trump unfavorably, and 53 percent saying they don’t approve of the job that he’s doing.

A key reason for this: that pesky impeachment matter. Voters are split – 49 percent on both sides – on the Senate’s decision to acquit Trump of both articles of impeachment.

And despite the acquittal, voters say 55 percent to 40 percent that the Senate voting to acquit Trump does not clear him of any wrongdoing in the Ukraine matter.

One other negative: voters say 59 percent to 35 percent that the Senate impeachment trial was conducted unfairly.
