Off the Top Rope: Sting in a middle school, Jeff Jarrett, Jake the Snake, Ric Flair’s arrest warrant, Hulk Hogan back in WWE?

Chris Graham

top ropeWhat the hell is up with Sting wrestling in a middle school? tna announced this week that it had added Sting to a pair of cards this weekend in Tennessee, including one Friday night at a middle school in Bristol. I’m not too good to put on shows in high school gyms, but … Sting in a middle school? Buddy, you need to let your contract expire and let Vince give you that one huge payday already.

Jeff Jarrett has patience Jeff Jarrett’s tna contract officially expired on Monday. The wrestling world began expecting around midnight Monday/Tuesday that Jarrett would be announcing huge news that may or may not involve country music star Toby Keith. Patience. If I’m Jarrett, and I do have huge news about starting a new company to share, I’m not doing it up against the WWE’s announcement that it is launching something called the WWE Network. Let WWE have its day. Next week is a slow wrestling news week. Perfect for creating an echo chamber to fill with something new.

Jake the Snake steals the show at Raw I remember this time last year when our business partner in Top Rope Pro Wrestling, Marvin Ward at Rawhide Promotions, got a phone call from Diamond Dallas Page about Jake the Snake Roberts. The idea was thrown out there about maybe having Jake be a part of the big Night of Superstars show that we were putting together for April 2013. Jake came, was a HUGE hit with the fans, and look at him now. It’s fun for us to have been a small, small, small part of his comeback. And as Jake has been saying on Twitter all week, it’s not an end, but a beginning.

Ric Flair and the arrest warrant You just feel sad for Ric Flair these days. He is as close to a living legend as the wrestling business has ever produced, but continued issues with money have reduced him to caricature status. Ric, we love you, man, but you’ve got to get your life back under control.

Hulk Hogan returning to WWE? Rumor has it that hulk hogan is in the best shape that he’s been in years. That can only mean one thing: one helluva send off at WrestleMania 30.
