Pop in for a pop up at Staunton Augusta Art Center

saaclogoCoincidence? Or co-incidents?  Our collaboration with Mary Baldwin College and visiting artist/instructor/environmentalist Aurora Robson seems “meant to be” since we just happened to have the rare occurrence of extra gallery space for a unique pop-up, three-day gallery exhibition entitled “Interceptors.”  To understand why Robson is a nationally-known artist and why we are so excited to have her in our community, we encourage you to visit http://www.aurorarobson.com.

Meanwhile, Robson and her 17 fortunate, May Term MBC students are busy collecting their art materials from area streams (and coincidentally cleaning the waters).   These materials will be the basis of the art installation that will be available here in the Staunton Augusta Art Center galleries for the public to view this Saturday, May 11 (10am-5pm), Sunday, May 12 (1-4pm), and also Monday, May 13 (10am-7pm).   So that the public has an opportunity to meet Robson and her students, MBC is hosting a reception in the Staunton Augusta Art Center galleries (20 S. New Street in historic downtown Staunton) from 5-7pm Monday, May 13.  There is no charge to attend the reception or to visit the galleries.

Exhibition pieces will be auctioned at the reception and proceeds will benefit the 501(C)3 organization, Friends of the Middle River.

We at the Staunton Augusta Art Center are honored that artist Aurora Robson and MBC Professor Paul Ryan invited us to be a part of this collaborative artistic endeavor which raises environmental awareness, improves our natural environment, and transforms waste objects pulled from the stream into art.
