A new poll from the Virginia Chamber of Commerce has Democrat Hillary Clinton up nine points in Virginia on Republican Donald Trump.
The poll has Clinton at 47 percent, Trump at 38 percent, Libertarian Gary Johnson at 3 percent, independent Evan McMullin at 2 percent, and Green Jill Stein at less than 1 percent.
Nine percent were listed as undecided.
Those who have made a choice for one of the two major-party candidates seem locked in. Clinton is at 47 percent overall in the poll, with 41 percent overall saying they’re definitely voting for her; Trump is at 38 percent overall, and 32 percent say they are definitely voting for Trump.
Trump leads in the Roanoke media market (53 percent to 39 percent), but trails big-time in the Washington, D.C., media market (57 percent to 30 percent) to Clinton.
Men are split at 42 percent each for the major-party candidates. Clinton leads by 15 points among women.
Trump is getting 80 percent of votes of self-identified Republicans, with Clinton getting 89 percent of Democrats. Independents are nudging toward Clinton, 33 percent to 31 percent.
Trump leads 46 percent to 38 percent among white voters, and gets 16 percent of African American votes.
