marietta mccartyMarietta McCarty teams up with Joyce Watson, owner of Wine Made Simple, as they pair four wines with matching philosophical themes. Marietta’s interactive talk begins at 6. Come one, come all! Sip wine, relax, and savor good conversation. Chat casually with Joyce about wine and Marietta about ____! after the talk. Marietta’s books (and bottles of wine) will be available for sale and signing.

Philosophy Topics and Wine Pairings

Simple Pleasures – Broadbent Vinho Verde – An uncomplicated, light, low alcohol, non-vintage, refreshing, slightly effervescent, dry white wine made from indigenous Portuguese grapes.

Flexibility – Ravines Dry Riesling – The Finger Lakes region in New York is famous for its Riesling. This noble grape varietal shows great versatility with food pairings.

Individuality – Saint Bris Sauvignon Blanc – Saint Bris is the only appellation in Burgundy, France that allows Sauvignon Blanc in its wines rather than Chardonnay.

Nature – La Voliera Rosato – Nature provided the Negroamaro grapes for this Italian rosé from Puglia. A vintage of wine is the result of the weather and growing conditions that particular year and, as always, the composition of the soil.

A Fruitful Ecological Solution – Meinklang Zweigelt and Blaufrankisch Red Blend – There might not be a more well-run biodynamic, organic wine estate anywhere in the world than that of Meinklang. The philosophy revolves around the farm as an agricultural operation whose plants and animals become an integrated part of their natural environment.
