The Shenandoah Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals will celebrate National Philanthropy Day ® at the Festival Center of James Madison University on Monday, November 21 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
National Philanthropy Day is a recognition event to honor philanthropists who give their time, talent and treasure toward the betterment of our community. There are five award categories. The following award recipients will be honored at this event:
- Individual Philanthropist – Ted and Stephanne Byrd
- Corporate Philanthropist – LSC Communications
- Spirit of Philanthropy – Chad Layman, Kathy Sizemore and Stacy Farley
- Youth in Philanthropy – Karen Komara and The Scarf Factory/Pleasant Valley Elementary School
- Sandra S. Neff Fundraising Executive – Janet Wendelken

The Shenandoah Chapter of AFP is the professional association of individuals responsible for promoting consistent and high standards of professional practice in the fundraising process. The organization serves a resource for all who raise funds in Rockingham and Augusta Counties and the surrounding areas. AFP Shenandoah Chapter has presented National Philanthropy Day awards for more than 25 years to celebrate the impact philanthropists have made on our society.
