WINNER: Virginia baseball wins College World Series
It has to happen eventually, doesn’t it?
Brian O’Connor has a pitching staff capable of shutting down anybody. This year he gets the offense to pick things up when the pitching has issues.
ASCENDING: JMU men’s basketball, UR football
HOLDING PATTERN: UVa. men’s basketball, VCU men’s basketball, Virginia Tech football
DESCENDING: UVa. women’s basketball, UVa. football
WINNER: Frank Beamer … reloads
He lost a lot from the 2007 team – his linebackers, his secondary, his wide receivers.
And he still repeated as ACC champs in ’08.
He has a habit of doing that kind of thing – remember that 2004 team that was supposed to get a rude welcome to the ACC?
ASCENDING: Brian O’Connor, Dave Clawson
HOLDING PATTERN: Al Groh, Dave Leitao, Seth Greenberg
DESCENDING: Debbie Ryan
WINNER: Tyrod Taylor looks pretty good
He just might not be around long enough to win too many more of these.
ASCENDING: Rodney Landers, Cedric Peerman, Kenny Lewis, Mike Scott, Dawn Evans
DESCENDING: Jameel Sewell
LOSER: Thanks, Joe, for the memories
Joe Gibbs is done at the end of the year – and he’s not coming back for more of the same ol’, same ol’.
So what’s next? Will it finally be the Greg Williams Era? Or will The Danny open up the pocketbook and lure another college coach to lead The Bandwagon?
Whichever way he goes, it’s going to be the wrong way.
ASCENDING: Jason Campbell, Ryan Zimmerman
HOLDING PATTERN: Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison
DESCENDING: Anybody unfortunately associated with the Baltimore Orioles franchise
