Parents Weekend with Army flair at Fishburne Military School

Fishburne Military School will welcome parents and families from around the country this weekend for their annual Parents Military Weekend.

The weekend will feature National Honor Society Inductions, New Cadet Breakout and Pinning, Drill Team and Raider demonstrations, sporting events, a Review Parade, and, of course, Parent/Teacher conferences.

The weekend has developed over the decades as a showcase for Cadet talents, awards and progress during this first semester of the academic year and is the highlight of Fall events on campus.

 

Public Events/Times

Friday (10/14) 

     — 11:00 am — National Honor Society inductions at 1st Presbyterian Church
This year FMS will induct 12 new members to the M. Frank Wooten chapter of the National Honor Society. This is one of the (if not THE) largest group of FMS cadet to earn this honor within the same year.

     — 4:30 pm — FMS Soccer vs. Massanutten Academy
The Caissons will honor Senior Fall Athletes and their parents during half-time.

Saturday (10/15)

     — 7:00 am until 9:00 am (approx) — New Cadet Breakout
New Cadets will earn their place as “old men” within the FMS Corps of Cadets following a Road March, a series of field events and a final “Bus Pull”.

— 9:00 am until 11:00 am — Raiders, Drill Teams, Color Guard Demonstrations
The FMS Raiders will kick things off with a rappelling and one-rope-bridge demonstration. Then the Hudgins Rifles (exhibition, or “trick”, drill team), the FMS Drill Team and the FMS Color Guard will put on an impressive display of talent and discipline on the FMS front parapet (in front of barracks).

     —  11:00 am until (approx) 12:00 noon — Review Parade and New Cadet Pinning
The Fishburne Military School Corps of Cadets will march in review on Anderson Field in honor of all visiting parents and families. Immediately following Parade, New Cadets who broke out to earn “old man” status will be pinned with their new, black name tags by their parents, symbolically ending their training period and making them full-fledged members of the FMS Corps of Cadets. (Tears, smiles, hugs…great photo and interview ops).
