Wei-Yin Chen went seven strong innings, and the Orioles offense hit four homers to power an 8-2 Baltimore win over Kansas City Sunday night in Camden Yards.
Chen (9-7, 3.44 ERA) gave up two runs on six hits in seven innings of work, striking out two without issuing a walk.
Chen outdueled Johnny Cueto (9-12, 3.47 ERA), who was tagged for eight runs, seven earned, on 11 hits in six and a third innings.
Jonathan Schoop (13, 14) homered twice off Cueto. Adam Jones (27) and Chris Davis (42) also went deep on the Royals’ ace.
Baltimore (69-73) is still alive in the American League wild-card race, six games out of the second wild-card spot with 18 games to play.
