A 16-year-old boy died in a single-vehicle crash in Orange County on Sunday at 3:22 p.m., according to Virginia State Police.

William A.R. Lowry, of Mineral, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

Lowry was traveling eastbound on Grasty Lane, just east of Montvue Lane, at a high rate of speed when he failed to maneuver a curve, ran off the left side of the roadway, and his vehicle collided with an embankment before overturning, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation.
