Oprah: Route 11 chips ‘crave-worthy’

AFP

Route 11 Potato Chips is featured in the April issue of The Oprah Magazine.

The theme of the issue is how to “Make Your Life More Delicious.” This is the first issue of the Oprah Magazine that’s been devoted to food. The cover of the magazine even has Oprah handing Stedman a turkey sandwich she’s just made and which she calls her “Love Sandwich.”

What goes better with a Love Sandwich, than Route 11 Potato Chips? The Dill Pickle flavored chips appear on page 168 and are called “crave-worthy.” It was only 4 ½ months ago that Ann Curry proclaimed them “fantastic” on the Today Show during her piece on The Best Foodie Gifts of 2011.

“It’s amazing that a potato chip can get this kind of attention”, says Sarah Cohen, Route 11’s president. “Dill Pickle has taken on a life all its own. We developed the flavor back in 1997 and its been one of our best sellers for a long time. Pickles are having a renaissance in the food world, so too, I guess are Dill Pickle flavored potato chips.”

When asked how The Oprah Magazine happened to find Route 11 Chips, Cohen says that she got an email from the food editors at the magazine requesting samples.

“It’s always exciting to get a request for samples from the media, but we never know if it’s going to amount to anything. This was a nice surprise for us.”
