boyerswithacclogoOpening Day, presented by Food Lion, of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday, March 12 will feature a concert by country music star Scotty McCreery.

The ACC Tournament will begin with No. 12 Wake Forest vs. No. 13 Notre Dame at 1 p.m., followed by No. 10 Miami vs. No. 15 Virginia Tech at 3:30 p.m. Scotty McCreery will perform at approximately 6 p.m. before the day concludes with No. 11 Georgia Tech vs. No. 14 Boston College at 7 p.m. All games will be broadcast on ESPN2 and the ACC Network.

“With our conference expansion this year, we felt it was important to do something special to celebrate the start of this historic, 15-team ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “Having the opportunity to purchase a single ticket for Wednesday that includes three ACC basketball games and a performance by one of the rising young stars in the recording industry offers a tremendous value to our fans.”

Food Lion is very excited about sponsoring the opening day of the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament this year,” said Stacey Sengewalt, Director of Marketing for Food Lion. “We are proud to offer our customers opportunities to win tickets and experience a variety of Food Lion events throughout the month of March. We value our partnership with the ACC and look forward to this event.”

With album sales approaching 2 million in less than two years, Scotty McCreery has emerged as one of country’s hottest new stars. He has earned a gold and platinum album, two gold singles, and two consecutive album debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. His social numbers are equally impressive with a combined 2.4 million followers on Facebook and Twitter. After winning Season Ten of American Idol, Scotty released his debut album, Clear As Day, which was the best-selling solo album released by a country artist in 2011. His new album, See You Tonight, was released in October and also debuted atop the Billboard Country Albums chart.

Tickets for the day are $35 and may be purchased through Ticketmaster online (http://theacc.co/14TourneyTix), at all Ticketmaster outlets, charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000 and the Greensboro Coliseum box office.
