October Radio Hour showcases Chapman Stick player

The October River City Radio Hour will have as it special guest Chapman Stick player extraordinaire, Flint Blade.  Described as ‘an innovative solo musician from South Florida’, Blade will share the Radio Hour stage with the Boogie Kings, Marsha Howard and the River City Players.  The 6:30 and 8 pm performances are at WTA’s Gateway, 329 West Main in Downtown Waynesboro.  Doors open at 6 pm.

Flint Blade came to the attention of the Radio Hour when he performed a drop-in performance at the Gateway’s Open Mic Night in 2011.  His Chapman Stick expertise brought the audience to its feet.  The stick, a two-handed tapping instrument, combines bass and guitar into a powerfully versatile sound machine.  Blade creates soundscapes infused with inspirational messages and pure expression as only a touring troubadour can do.  Critics have said “Each of Flint Blade’s performances are truly unique, uplifting and engaging experience.”

The October Radio Hour will also feature the second chapter of Bob Crawfords’ A. Angel Love.  A young woman with a “smile full of heart and a voice that matches her name” has begun her journey to stardom by singing for tips at DC’s Back Porch and a wealthy congressman has taken an interest in her career.  Life in the “big city” begins in earnest for the girl from Lynchburg, Virginia.  “Will Angel sing at the Back Porch or will the congressman have bigger things to offer?”  That is the question for Chapter Two.

The Boogie Kings and Waynesboro First Lady of Laughter, Marsha Howard, round out the one-hour performances.

Advanced tickets are $10 and may be purchased online (www.wtagateway.com) or by calling the box office (540-943-9999).  Tickets are also available at the box office on the night of performance for $12.  All seats are reserved.
