A 37-year-old woman is in custody after allegedly shooting a man multiple times in the East Belvedere neighborhood in Norfolk on Tuesday.

The Norfolk Police Department was called to a home in the 100 block of Dover Circle around 5:20 p.m. where they found a 37-year-old man suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds.

First responders took the man to the hospital where he remains in stable condition. His name has not been released.

The suspect, Alanna K. Chace, was still inside the home and the hostage/crisis/negotiation and special operations teams were called for assistance. The woman was taken into police custody peacefully a short time later, according to police.

Chace had self-inflicted injuries and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Chace remains hospitalized at this time.

The relationship between the victim and Chace has not been disclosed, but police referred to the shooting as a domestic incident.

Detectives have charged Chace with malicious wounding, domestic assault and use of a firearm. She will be transported to the Norfolk City Jail upon her release from the hospital.
