A 16-year-old boy was arrested in California and charged in connection with a shooting in Norfolk last year that killed a 15-year-old.

The 16-year-old male was extradited to Virginia last week.

Homicide detectives have charged the teen with second-degree murder and use of a firearm.

The boy is being held in the Norfolk Detention Center.

According to police, on Oct. 19, 2023, police found the 15-year-old teen in the 1700 block of Vernon Drive suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Detectives have not released a motive or any other circumstances related to this incident.
